Southern Miss hosted a large number of prospects on campus, and some came from a long way to be there. One QB made the trip to Hattiesburg from Wichita, KS, and he talks about his impressions with.
Recruiting is always interesting in the way prospects get noticed.
Sometimes film gets into the hands of coaches in some unusual ways, and other times, prospects are simply at the right time at the right place. Such was the case for Wichita, KS (East HS) QB Dominic Webb.
The talented QB was in Louisiana visiting his aunt, when he decided he would look around to see if there were any camps in his area. When he heard about the one in Hattiesburg, he became curious and decided to check it out. After a strong showing, he’s glad he made the trip over.
.”I’m really happy I went to the camp today, I learned a lot and I was introduced to an incredible coaching staff,” Webb toldthis afternoon.
“I was so impressed with Coach Monken. He told us, ‘you can’t change what God gave you so you just go out and play with what you have and you play hard.’
“I love the coaching staff. They were professional and sincere about helping to grow us as players in that very short amount of time. I absolutely loved the competitive atmosphere they created.”
Webb made an impressive showing and caught the eye of offensive coordinator Coach Lindsey.
“Coach said I have a great arm,” he said. “He told me he liked what he saw from me and asked me to follow him on twitter so we can keep in touch. They said they will take a look at my film.”
Webb said he was very impressed with the campus in general.
“We got to tour the facilities and see some current players,” he said. “I was very impressed. I left thinking I’d like to go to school there.”
He said he will continue to stay in touch with Southern Miss and see what happens. He’s hoping for an offer and possibly another visit in the fall.
